Bio
Federico Badini Confalonieri is the winner of the Redress Design Award 2022. He holds an MA in Fashion Design - Menswear from the London College of Fashion and BA in Knitwear Design from Polytechnic University of Milan.
“Fashion has a role to inspire in society and new fashion designers have a role to switch quickly to a new way of working within the industry. Creativity, innovations, and aesthetics have all the great potential to help build a better planet together.” – Federico Badini Confalonieri
redress Design Award Collection
Federico’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘Micro - Rain’, uses zero-waste techniques to upcycle waste fabrics from his previous collections, and draws attention to the problem of microplastics in the fashion industry, with garments made with synthetic fabrics that have an incorporated filter fabric to retain pollution during washing. Federico challenges the zero-waste concept by creating a "waste negative" garment: the zero-waste puffer jacket is filled with the collection offcuts to reuse the waste created by other garments.
Federico was also a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2021.
