Federico Badini Confalonieri wins 2022 Redress Design Award

Congratulations to Federico Badini Confalonieri for winning the 2022 Redress Design Award! The designer from Italy wins the opportunity to join the team at VF’s Timberland to collaborate on a special sustainable design project and takes home career-boosting resources including a HK$50,000 (US$6,400) development fund.

“This prize is about more than winning a competition,” shares Federico. “It will give me even more energy and determination to work towards building together a more sustainable fashion industry. I am humbled that the jury selected me among such skilled designers! We sustainable designers may have competed, but the reality is that collaboration creates greater fashion. To partner with one of the world’s most iconic brands, Timberland, is a huge opportunity for me, and I look forward to creating a positive and powerful project together!”

Following their runway debut, the finalists’ sustainable collections will also be displayed in a Finalists and Alumni Exhibition open to the public at Hong Kong’s ArtisTree. 

Federico and the other finalists of the competition, including runner-up Ashutosh Panda from India and Hong Kong Best Prize winner Patrick Lam, now join the Redress Design Award Alumni Network, which offers ongoing career guidance, connections, and opportunities in sustainable fashion. The community includes over 240 alumni designers around the world who continue to creatively design from local waste streams, commercialising mini circular fashion systems and benefiting their local communities.
