Let’s rethink fashion! Applications open for Redress Design Award 2023

The Redress Design Award 2023, the 13th cycle of the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition, is now open for applications! We urge emerging fashion designers globally with less than four years of experience in the fashion industry to showcase their skills in sustainable fashion design and compete for exciting prizes, including HK$80,000 (US$10,000) in development funding and a collaboration opportunity with VF Corporation.

Join us in building a world in which fashion is circular, right from the drawing board. Organised by Hong Kong headquartered environmental NGO Redress since 2011, the educational competition’s global footprint attracts applicants from over 50 countries and enjoys support from more than 150 universities globally.

Those who make it to the semi-finals or beyond will join the Redress Design Award Alumni Network, a community offering various career enhancement opportunities in sustainable design, with alumni achievements including fashion weeks, brand collaborations, and more.

After three years of travel restrictions due to the global pandemic, Redress looks forward to finally welcoming the competition finalists to Hong Kong in September, where they will participate in-person in masterclasses and challenges for the Grand Final Week, as well as experience the Grand Final Fashion Presentation, where their designs will debut on the runway and the 2023 winners will be announced.

The Redress Design Award Pathway Course, designed to deepen students’ knowledge of circular fashion design strategies and techniques, is also re-launching with a new module on “Fibre Choices and Sustainability”. Applicants to the Redress Design Award will enjoy extended access to course material until 16 March 2023, when the application period closes.
