Catching Up with Our Redress Design Award Winners
Earlier this year, during COVID-19 lockdown, our Founder Christina Dean caught up with eight of our Redress Design Award Alumni from over the years for an IGTV series to find out what the designers have been up to since taking part in the Redress Design Award and how COVID-19 has affected their lives, their businesses and their creativity.
In the series, the designers share their experiences in participating in the Redress Design Award and how it has helped them launch their careers in sustainable design.
On sustainable fashion design...
“Stay true to your own aesthetic, don’t try to compromise who you are, keep your creativity and adapt to the situation.”- Kévin Germanier, 2014/15 First Prize winner
On how COVID-19 is affecting their businesses...
“It’s a turning point and opportunity as we have more time and space to communicate with clients and other people in the industry to make connections.” - Weiyu Hung, 2018 finalist.
On advice to get through to the Redress Design Award finals…
“Do your research and be as thorough as you possibly can be with your design approach. Be a big nerd - think about every aspect of your design and forensically analyse it in order to impress the judges.” - Tess Whitfort, 2018 First Prize winner
Head to our IGTV channel here to watch the In Conversation with Redress Alumni series and learn more about these inspiring designers. Other alumni featured are Karen Jessen (2013 First Prize winner), Catherine Hudson (2013 finalist), Pat Guzik (2015/16 Winner), Kate Morris (2017 Winner) and Jesse Lee (2018 Hong Kong Best winner)!
