Designing for the future

The number of fashion brands operating sustainably is on the rise, as understanding of the ethical, environmental and waste issues facing the industry deepens. Representing 24 countries and with now over 32 emerging brands among them, our 157 designer strong alumni, with 23% based in Redress’ home turf in Hong Kong, are working in imaginative, innovative ways across the globe, with the aim to change the face of fashion forever.

Shining a light on our alumni network’s successes - a testament to the mission and the legacy of the competition, as well as the change in the industry, this September Redress showcased a select group of these designers at HKTDC’s CENTRESTAGE 2018. Absurd Laboratory, Artisan and Classics Anew, Angus Tsui, Pat Guzik and The R Collective provided global buyers and media with sustainable options in design. Angus Tsui, Seer the Label, Kévin Germanier, Pat Guzik, Claire Dartigues and The R Collective also shared the runway in an Alumni show at the Redress Design Award 2018 Grand Final.

Claire Dartigues’ multi-functional and reversible up-cycled designs caught the attention of retailer kapok, and was awarded the Redress Design Award 2018 Alumni Prize - a customized business development mentorship with owner Arnault Castel, and her collection in store.
